To run 8GB in the MacBook Aluminum, and early model 15" "Unibody" MacBook Pro:
Find your Boot ROM Version, by consulting your System Profiler:
Instructions at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237
- The correct Boot ROM version for the MacBookPro5,1 is: MBP51.007E.B05.
- The correct Boot ROM version for the MacBook5,1 is: MB51.007D.003
- All other model ID's are unaffected.
If you do not have this Boot ROM version, please dowload the latest:
For MacBook Pros (MacBookPro5,1)
MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.8
For MacBooks (MacBook5,1)
MacBook EFI Firmware Update 1.4
Next, you must be running Snow Leopard (10.6.6) or newer to address 8GB on these computers.
