Overview:The DDR2-667Mhz Mac Pro memory is compatible with the 1st Generation (2006-2007) model, and the DDR2-800Mhz Mac Pro memory is compatible with the 2nd Generation (Early 2008) DDR2-800Mhz.
What type of RAM do you need? more information

The Mac Pro DDR2 series (667Mhz and 800Mhz) uses a type of memory called an FB-DIMM. There are eight (8) slots, and the FB-DIMMs are installed in pairs (2x at a time). In order to run 256 Bit Addressing modules are installed in two matched pairs (4x identical modules). The original 1GB is installed as a pair of two 512mb FB-DIMMs. The system maximum is 32GB with the installation of eight (8) 4GB FB-DIMMs.

Heat Sink PhotoHeat Sinks: Ramjet uses the only heat sink certified by Apple for use in the Mac Pro. Other brands use heat sink types that cause overheating leading to increased fan usage and slower performance. Our heat sink runs 7 degrees cooler than the folded plate design, and 15 degrees cooler than the flat spreader design of heat sink.

Matched Modules: Ramjet kits contain a matched set of DIMMs. The kit consists of identical brand/model/spec IC's, with matching batch numbers. Our memory will also mate perfectly with Apple original DIMMs.

The DDR3-1066 DIMMs for the Mac Pro require a Thermal Sensor for full performance and compatibility. Many 3rd party Mac Pro DIMMs do not include this sensor. Ramjet memory always conforms 100% to the Apple spec, and these DIMMs include the Apple thermal sensor.

System Maximum: The system maximum in the 3rd Generation Mac Pro is 48GB (3x 16GB) in the 4-slot models, or 96GB (6x 16GB) in the 8-slot models.

Tri-channel memory configuration gives a slight performance advantage. The DDR3-1066 DIMMs for the Mac Pro will run 1-3% faster if they are installed in matched sets of three (tri-channel). You may add DIMMs in any combination, but performance will suffer slightly if the DIMMs are not matched 3x at a time.

Mixable/Non-Mixable 8GB DIMMs: Mixable 8GB DIMMs can be used with other DIMMs. The non-mixable variety can ONLY be used with identical 8GB DIMMs from the same batch (i.e. ordered at the same time).

Matched Modules: The Ramjet kits for the Mac Pro DDR3-1066 contain a matched set of DIMMs. The kit will consist of identical brand/model/spec IC's. They will be from a single batch, and will have matching series numbers. This ensures maximum performance, and perfect compatibility.
