iMac Memory for Model 13.2 14.2 and 15.1
iMac Late 2012, Late 2013, Late 2014, and Retina 5K
DDR3-1600Mhz
The 27" Late 2012 through Late 2014 iMacs, including the iMac 5K Retina Display, utilize DDR3-1600Mhz memory. The system maximum is 32GB (4 x 8GB modules.)
It is important to note the 21.5" iMacs (model IDs 13,1 / 14,1 / 14,3 / 14,4) are not user upgradeable.
Non-Stacked ICs: Ramjet uses a non-stacked module for the DDR3-1600 modules for the iMac. The cheaper stacked IC variety of SO-DIMM draws more power, which increases heat and can cause increased errors. Ramjet ONLY uses premium non-stacked chips.
DDR3-1600, 1600Mhz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, 1.35V, 204pin SO-DIMM.
These machines have four SO-DIMM DDR3 SDRAM slots located on the rear of the computer just above the power cord receptacle. You can install any configuration of 2GB, 4GB, or 8GB modules in these slots, such as a matched pair of 4GB DDR3 1600 SO-DIMMs or a matched pair of 8GB DDR3 1600 SO-DIMMs.
The maximum amount of SDRAM you can install in the computer is 32GB (an 8GB SO-DIMM in each slot.)
